Thai boxing

Thai boxing (or Muay Thai) is a combat sport (martial art) that has been developed in Thailand and has become a national sport. It is known also as “the art of eight limbs”, because both hands, elbows, knees, and legs can be used to attack an opponent. Around Thailand, there are many arenas and stadiums that are hosting fights on an almost nightly basis. Some professional fights regularly also take place on Koh Phangan. It is hard to miss them as they are loudly advertised through the high volume speakers island circling trucks. There are many Muay Thai camps or Muay Thai schools that welcome non Thai fighters in Thailand and on Koh Phangan. Whilst these camps or on demand training are intensive, they are a great way to learn the art of Muay Thai, and they provide an incredible boost for personal fitness and confidence.
